Description

Objective

The I.B. Hale Chapter of the Year Award recognizes outstanding chapters that provide security practitioners with timely and relevant resources, thus helping promote excellence in the security management profession worldwide. Chapters are recognized for their proficiency at sharing knowledge, best practices, and peer-to-peer connections that give ASIS International members a means to succeed personally and professionally.

Eligibility

The Chapter must have a member retention rate of greater than 70%.The Chapter is in good standing and has complied with all ASIS International Chapter requirements during the award year, defined as the previous calendar year (January-December). Unsuccessful nominees may reapply in any following year.

Nominations

Nominations may be submitted by any ASIS member in good standing.Nominations will only be evaluated for performance during the award year, defined as the previous calendar year (January to December).All nominations must be submitted via the online awards management platform by the publicized annual deadline.

Criteria

Member and Community EngagementThe chapter will have a consistent record of encouraging individual growth and professionalism of chapter members. Examples may include, but are not limited to:Hosting in-person or virtual events in support of professional development, certification, and networking.Promoting participation in the ASIS Mentoring Program.Recruiting members for Chapter leadership positions.Engaging diverse member stakeholders in chapter activities, including Women in Security, NextGen, student members, and under-represented populations.

Relevance and Frequency of Communications

The chapter will consistently communicate with and engage members on topics relevant to ASIS International and the security profession. Examples include, but are not limited to:Chapter meetings and regional events, including professional development and continuing education opportunitiesASIS certification, including recognition of new certificantsMember spotlightsVolunteer, community service, and mentorship opportunitiesNew or notable ASIS resourcesMember spotlights, including Women in Security and NextGenASIS Foundation research and initiativesLocal legislative updatesGlobal Security ExchangeOther relevant security topicsCommunications will be disseminated via multiple channels including email, ASIS Connects, website, social media, newsletter, etc.Communications should be distributed with a frequency that establishes the Chapter as a member’s go-to source for security information.The Chapter should support ASIS International with any or all the following:Recruiting new ASIS International members.Recommending outstanding local chapter members for ASIS regional and international positions.Organizing and/or leading a local or regional professional seminar, workshop, or conference that expands the influence of ASIS International.Organizing and/or leading a community service, civic, or other project that enhances the reputation of ASIS International.Engaging with the ASIS International Foundation.

Evaluation and Selection

Chapters will be evaluated against chapters of a similar membership size, grouped as follows:Group 1: 40 members or fewerGroup 2: 41 to 70 membersGroup 3: 71 to 100 membersGroup 4: 101 to 159 membersGroup 5: 160 to 250 membersGroup 6: 251 to 574 membersGroup 7: 575 or more membersThere may be one (1) winner from each group. A Selection Committee will evaluate the nominees based on the established criteria to determine the winners.The Selection Committee will rely solely on the information provided in the nomination.The Selection Committee may opt not to select a winner in any group if there are no deserving nominations.Notifications will be issued via the online awards management platform.

Recognition and Award

Award recipients are formally recognized for their excellence and achievements at the annual Global Security Exchange.Award recipients will be provided with digital promotional graphics and a complimentary GSX All-Access Pass registration.Award recipients will be featured throughout the year in ASIS promotions and communications.
